Performance Mods


-K&n oil filter: this is a great oil filter and can be purchased at advanced auto.
-Exhaust:- Header, high flow cat, Catback exhaust system, the header can be bought from www.cliffordperformance.com, a high flow cat can bought at www.summitracing.com or www.jegs.com and the catback exhaust can be found at summit racing as well. They sell two different systems one is by pacesetter (part#: psm-86-2817) the other one is by dynomax (part#: wlk-17471)
-Computer (ecm): www.superchips.com makes a comp. chip for our trucks as well.
-Fuel system: Venom makes a high flow fuel injector and high flow fuel pump, Holley makes a performance tbi but is for older 2.5's with model 300 tbi.
-Cooling system: flex-a-lite makes an electric fan which is a direct bolt on and is (part#: flx-60) through summit racing. You can also use a ford taurus 3.0v6 fan and do the necessary modifications to install it. You can also run a lower thermostat, which can be bought at any auto parts store.
-Ignition: You can run 8mm spark plug wires, Msd-6a ignition module (part#: msd-6200) through summit racing, Msd ignition coil (part#: msd-8226) through summit racing. There are also high performance distributors you can buy, msd makes one.
-Engine modifications:
-Block- You can bore the block over.
-Cylinder head- You can have the cylinder head port and polished.
-Crankshaft- You can buy a 3.0l crankshaft this is a more solid piece and will handle higher rpms.
-Rods- There are rods out there for this engine but they do get costly.
-Camshaft- there are a couple different camshafts for this engine each depends on your application and what you want. Crane and comp cams both make cams for this engine.
-Valvetrain- you can get upgraded lifters and pushrods from comp cams, as well as roller rockers.
-Oil pump- You can get a high flow oil pump
-Intake manifold- You can also have this port and polished as well as bored out and matched to your tbi. Gm performance parts sells a aftermarket intake manifold.
